Life is a journey, not a destination.

Open the door, and let the journey begin!

KIDS IN C.H.A.O.S.

The death of a parent, the loss of a beloved pet, divorce, going to a different school, moving to a new city—any of these events can permanently damage a child’s fragile sense of well-being.  How can parents be sensitive to their child’s difficulty in adjusting to a totally new situation?  If you are unsure, and most people are, I have a process to help you figure this out.  The program is called Kids in C.H.A.O.S.

So How Does This Work?

First we determine exactly where you are in this transition period and what problems, real or imagined, you feel your child is having.  Are there physical manifestations or has your child become withdrawn?  Are you making assumptions about what your child is thinking or feeling?  What concerns are you having that may be affecting your child?

Then I help you clarify your goals in successfully bringing your child through this experience.  What is your immediate goal?  What would you like the long-range effect to be on both you and your child?

From there we break this down into bite-size, manageable goals and create an action plan to help you reach them using the following system:

                 C—Clarify the problem.

H—Help your child voice his/her feelings.

                 A—Accept changes as learning experiences.

                 O—Open opportunities for fun.

S—Stay tuned in to your child.

Through weekly phone calls, I will keep you accountable, focused and inspired.  Together we will tackle challenges that may arise.  With a plan and a coach to guide you, disasters can be turned into learning opportunities.  Kids in C.H.A.O.S. sharpens your skills and confidence so that you can help your child get through trauma and embrace change.
